Would it be safe food wise to plant asparagus over a septic tank's drain field?

My opinion is that you should find a different place to plant things you intend to eat. Septic tanks are full of chemicals and that will also leech into your surrounding soil. None of the things emitted by the tank are acceptable amendments for human consumption.
