Political Asylum in the US.?

Currently my family and I live in Guatemala. We come from a very big and wealthy family and travel to the US every year for the summer for vacation and spend time with family already living there. We have been doing this for more than a decade or so. Recently we were targeted by the drug cartel "Los Zeta" because we did not want to give them any money. Unfortunately, a few of our ranches are located in the border close to Mexico city. So there is a lot of violence there. Just last week my cousin was kidnapped and killed with her husband by the zeta drug cartel, than 3 days later 28 of our workers were killed in one of our ranches because they were trying to find my family. We don't know what to do. We are not allowed to go out or go to school and every day we feel like they are going to find us. Our president has give us his support but this hasn't been enough. Do we qualify to apply? If we do than we are thinking of selling everything here and hopefully start a new life without the fear of being persecuted for not giving them money.
